Job Summary
The Director of Resident Services is responsible for maintaining positive linkage between TLC and Community Agencies and Groups who provide support and/or services to TLC residents. This Director will supervise staff that work during an assigned shift and will be responsible for staff discipline and evaluation. The position reports directly to the Executive Director.

Functions and Responsibilities

Case Management

  • Develop and Document Resident Processes
    • Utilize assessments to identify resident needs
    • Develop prescriptive program goal plan for each new resident with Executive Director
    • Provide Orientation for new residents
    • Maintain necessary case notes and forms
    • Monthly Progress reports
    • Periodic Prescriptive Program Goal Plan updates
    • Prepare Parole & Closing Summaries
    • Coordinate resident aftercare
  • Facilitate Resident Groups
  • Resident money management
    • Develop Resident Budgets
    • Review resident request for funds
  • Read and make appropriate entries in the daily shift log
  • Development of pro-social leisure activities
    • Evaluate and approve free time, furloughs, travel requests, and special requests
  • Assist with Resident Housing and Employment
    • Employment checks
    • Review and process Home Plan or Furlough Site requests
  • Provide support for Educational opportunities and Legal issues
  • Provide supportive counseling and assistance with routine questions and concerns
  • Oversight of resident discipline

Staff Supervision

  • Supervise staff who work during assigned shift
  • Initiate staff performance evaluations
  • Initiate disciplinary steps for staff errors and non compliance
  • Coordinate communication with all staff concerning residents
  • Monitor staff trainings
  • Notify Executive Director of any unusual incidents
  • Maintains security of house when on duty
  • Participate in interviews of candidates for employment

Resident Services in Community

  • Promote TLC to Agencies in the Community
  • Coordinate Community resources for TLC residents
  • Conduct Outreach to potential Employers
  • Coordinate Community based staff training
  • Coordinate and orient Community volunteers and mentors
  • Maintain affiliation with Pennsylvania Family Alliance

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities

  • Education: B.A. Human Services or Social Work or 5 years experience working in Community Corrections or with a Community Agency with related experience.
  • Ability to maintain effectiveness in varying environments and with varying tasks, responsibilities, or people.
  • Communicate effectively in both written and oral form.

Work Schedule

Full-time salaried position of 40 hours per week determined by demands of the job.
Requires flexible work schedule with possible weekend and evening hours.
Includes being scheduled in an on-call rotation with site visits at TLC.
Must be available depending on needs of TLC.
